When you trade on Hyperliquid through a third-party frontend, you pay two fees: the exchange fee and a builder fee. Most traders don't understand the builder fee — or how much it varies between frontends.
Here's what you actually pay, and how to keep it low.
Hyperliquid charges a standard maker/taker fee:
These are among the lowest in crypto perpetual trading. They're the same regardless of which frontend you use.
When you trade through a third-party frontend (not the native Hyperliquid UI), the frontend operator can add a builder fee on top of the exchange fee.
This fee is:
Builder fees typically range from 0% to 0.05%. Some frontends charge nothing; others charge the maximum.
Trending charges a 0.02% builder fee — among the lowest in the ecosystem.
On a $10,000 trade:
For comparison, some frontends charge 0.05% builder fees, which would be $5.00 extra on the same trade — more than double what Trending charges.
On small trades, the difference is negligible. On larger or more frequent trades, it adds up.
If you trade $100,000 per day:
Over a year, choosing a lower-fee frontend saves you thousands — with identical execution, since all frontends route to the same Hyperliquid liquidity.
Before placing a trade on any frontend:
If the frontend doesn't show the builder fee clearly, that's a red flag.
Builder fees are the price of using a third-party frontend. They fund the development of alternatives to the native UI — which is how the Hyperliquid ecosystem grows.
The key is transparency. A good frontend shows you the fee upfront and keeps it low. Trending charges 0.02% — and you can verify it on-chain, since every builder fee is publicly recorded on Hyperliquid.
